Silica Gel Sachets
Leaky lids and damp can be the bane of caches, spoiling its contents. Keep yours dry by adding a few silica gel sachets inside.
No matter how careful you are in selecting an watertight container, there will come a time when caches are found in the rain and water inevitably gets inside. This can result in condensation, damp logbooks that are difficult to write in, spoiled visitor cards and soggy printed information.
Why not help add some damp protection to the caches that you find by dropping in a spare sachet as well as a swap item?
TIP 1
Although these are clearly marked with "DO NOT EAT", it is recommended that sachets are attached to the back of the logbooks or underside of the cache lid with strong adhesive tape to prevent young children from mistaking these as trade items or sweets.
TIP 2
Sachets that have absorbed water can be recharged by putting them on a radiator or warm (switched off) oven for a short period of time. Once fully dry, they can be used again.
